Vada Chennai (2018) Sinhala Subtitle & Review

Vada Chennai (2018) Sinhala Subtitle, Vada Chennai (2018) Sinhala Sub, Vada Chennai Sinhala Sub, Vada Chennai Sinhala Subtitle

Vada Chennai (2018) is a Tamil language film that is known for its dramatic, adventurous, and mysterious storyline. The film was written and directed by Vetrimaaran and produced by A. Subaskaran, Lyca Productions, Dhanush's Wunderbar Films, and Vetrimaran's Grass Root Film Company. It stars Dhanush, Samuthirakani, Andrea Jeremiah, and Aishwarya Rajesh in the lead roles. Vada Chennai is part of a planned trilogy and tells the story of a young man in Chennai who becomes involved in a gang war between two rival gangsters.

The film had been in the news since late 2009 but was officially announced in November 2011 that the filming would commence by March 2012. After being temporarily shelved, the film re-materialized in May 2015 with a new cast featuring Dhanush as the lead, making his third collaboration with the director after Polladhavan (2007) and Aadukalam (2011). Principal photography for the film began in June 2016 and wrapped up in February 2018. The film was initially slated to release on 13 September 2018, during the Ganesh Chathurthi festival but was postponed to 17 October 2018, because of the post-production works.

Vada Chennai received critical acclaim, with praise for the direction, screenplay, music, action sequences, script, and performances of the cast, particularly that of Dhanush, Ameer, Samuthirakani, Pawan, Kishore, Daniel Balaji, and Andrea. The film also received several awards at the 2018 Ananda Vikatan Cinema Awards, including Best Actor for Dhanush, Best Supporting Actor for Ameer, and Best Music Director for Santhosh Narayanan.

The film draws on themes of gang warfare, the life of the marginalized, and the plight of the fishermen community in Chennai. Vada Chennai is a complex and multi-layered film that explores the social and political realities of life in the city's underbelly. The film is shot in a nonlinear fashion, which adds to its perplexity and burstiness. The storyline runs through several time periods, with each character's backstory and motivations gradually revealed.

The film's lead character, Anbu, played by Dhanush, is a skilled carrom player who becomes embroiled in a gang war between two rival gangsters. Anbu's character is a reluctant participant in the violence and is portrayed as a man of conscience who is trying to do the right thing in a world that is often brutal and unforgiving. The film also features several other memorable characters, including Ameer's Rajan, a prominent local Fishermen Head in North Madras who is respected by the locals, and Samuthirakani's Guna, a member of Rajan's gang and Chandra's second husband.

The film's cinematography by Velraj is outstanding, with several memorable shots that capture the gritty and chaotic atmosphere of Chennai's streets. The editing by G. B. Venkatesh and R. Ramar is also top-notch, with the film's nonlinear structure seamlessly weaving together the various storylines.

The music by Santhosh Narayanan is another highlight of the film, with the soundtrack featuring several memorable songs that complement the film's themes and mood. The film was initially announced with G. V. Prakash Kumar as the music director. However, following Kumar's fallout with the lead actor Dhanush, the team chose Santhosh Narayanan as the film composer, which marked his maiden collaboration with Vetrimaaran.

In conclusion, Vada Chennai is a must-watch film for anyone who is interested in Tamil Cinema.

Is Vada Chennai 2 coming?

As of my knowledge cutoff of September 2021, there was no official announcement regarding the release of Vada Chennai 2. However, director Vetrimaaran had expressed his interest in making a sequel to the movie and had even shared some ideas for the storyline. He had mentioned that the movie will explore the political scenario of North Chennai, which was not fully explored in the first part.

It's worth noting that the COVID-19 pandemic had caused a delay in the filming and release of several movies, so it's possible that the production of Vada Chennai 2 was also affected. However, there has been no official update from the filmmakers regarding the release of the sequel.

Who is Guna in Vada Chennai?

Guna is a character in the Tamil movie "Vada Chennai", which was released in 2018. He is played by actor Samuthirakani.

In the movie, Guna is a gangster who is involved in illegal activities in the North Chennai area. He is the leader of a gang that includes Anbu (played by Dhanush) and other members. Guna is shown to be a violent and ruthless person, who is feared by both his enemies and his own gang members.

The character of Guna has an important role in the movie as he is involved in several key plot points. He is shown to have a complicated relationship with Anbu, who tries to distance himself from the gangster lifestyle that Guna represents. Guna also plays a key role in the power struggle between various gangs in North Chennai, and his actions have a major impact on the lives of several characters in the movie.

Is Vada Chennai based on true story?

No, "Vada Chennai" is not based on a true story. It is a work of fiction written and directed by Vetrimaaran. The story is set in the North Chennai area and revolves around a group of gangsters and their activities in the region. The movie explores various themes such as loyalty, revenge, politics, and the impact of gang violence on individuals and society.

Although the movie is not based on a specific real-life incident or a true story, the director and the team had done extensive research on the North Chennai area and its people. Vetrimaaran had mentioned in interviews that he spent several years researching and documenting the life of people in the region, and he tried to incorporate some of the real-life incidents and stories into the movie. The movie was appreciated for its realistic portrayal of the lives of people in North Chennai and their struggles.

Is Vada Chennai hit or flop?

In terms of box office collections, "Vada Chennai" can be considered as an average performer. The movie had a budget of around 40 crores and it reportedly collected around 70 crores at the box office. Although the movie did not have a massive commercial success, it was critically acclaimed and received positive reviews from audiences and critics alike.

The movie was appreciated for its realistic portrayal of the life of people in North Chennai, its intense and engaging screenplay, and powerful performances by the actors. It was also praised for its unique and innovative storytelling style, which kept the audience hooked throughout the movie.

Overall, while "Vada Chennai" did not become a massive commercial hit, it is still considered as a landmark movie in Tamil cinema and has a dedicated fan following. Its success at the box office was overshadowed by its impact on the film industry, as it set a new benchmark for realistic and engaging storytelling in Tamil cinema.

Vada Chennai (2018) Story

The narrative of the film is non-linear, and it is a complex web of stories interwoven with multiple characters. The movie traces its roots back to 1987 when Guna, "Jawa" Pazhani, Velu, and Senthil commit a high-profile murder. Senthil bails Guna and Velu out, but they end up serving a year in prison. The incident creates a deep rift between them and Senthil. In 2000, a new warden takes over the Madras Central Prison and plans to eliminate all criminal activities controlled by Senthil. Anbu, a carrom player, is brought to the prison and is placed in the 11th block under Velu and Mani. During a raid, Anbu saves one of Senthil's henchmen, Raju, from being killed by Siva, Anbu's brother. Anbu then shifts to the 7th block with Raju's help.

Anbu meets Padma, and they begin a relationship. In the meantime, Senthil is trying to harbour political aspirations through a local politician named Muthu, who is also in prison. Anbu requests Senthil to organise a carrom tournament for the prisoners, which will help Senthil promote his political aspirations and make peace with the prison Chief. The tournament is conducted throughout the prison, and Senthil, Siva, and Anbu all proceed to the knock-out semi-finals. The final two rounds of the tournament are held in the common prison courtyard, which implies that Senthil must come out. Velu and Mani try to utilise the opportunity to kill Senthil and heavily arm their boys. Senthil is alerted and gets ready to kill his assassins with their own weapons. However, Senthil's right thumb is accidentally injured, and he withdraws from the tournament.

Anbu and Siva proceed to the finals, and Anbu requests Senthil to be present for the finals to raise morale. Senthil agrees and comes to watch the final. Seconds after Anbu wins the final, the tournament tent collapses, and two gangs clash. Senthil defends himself aptly, but Anbu stabs Senthil in the neck with a wooden shard broken from the carrom board, leaving him heavily injured and paralysed for life. Raju is the only witness but does not talk as Anbu spared his life from Siva earlier. Anbu then explains his loyalty towards Guna to Raju.

The story also involves Guna's wife Chandra, who convinces Guna to send his brother Shankar to prison in Anbu's place, leading to Anbu and Kannan being sent on boats for safety. Senthil murders Shankar in prison within two days, leading to Anbu pledging his life to Guna. Sometime later, while trying to confirm a party post, Senthil surrenders himself to the cops and calls for a truce with Guna, but Guna discovers that Senthil has requested Guna and Velu's names to the police.
